About the game
What is Kafes?
Kafes is a daily Sudoku played with letters instead of digits. The day's nine letters come from a hidden word; every row, column and 3×3 box takes each letter once. Solve the board and the marked row reads the word of the day.
Everyone solves the same board; fewest checks and fastest time rank first. Members keep a streak; a new lattice is built at midnight.
Frequently asked questions
How is letter Sudoku different?
Same rules; the day's nine letters replace 1–9. The difference: a word appears on the marked row when you finish.
Can I guess the word early?
Yes, you can fill the marked row directly; a wrong guess misleads the whole board.
What does Check do?
It marks filled cells that contradict the solution. Your check count is listed beside your time.
What are the coloured and plain views?
Coloured gives each letter its own ink; plain shows letters only. The choice is remembered on your device.
