    Privacy Policy

    Edebiyatla (the "Platform", "we") is an online community platform for sharing poetry, stories, essays and literary discussion. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the Platform, how we use it, and what rights you have.

    2. Data We Collect

    Account data: first name, last name, username, email address and password (stored only in hashed form) provided during registration.

    Profile and content data: your avatar, biography, the poems/posts/comments you publish, your on-platform interactions (likes, bookmarks, follows) and your private messages.

    Usage and technical data: session information, your language and appearance preferences, IP address, browser and device information required to operate the service.

    3. How We Use Your Data

    • To create and secure your account and authenticate you
    • To publish your content and operate community features (comments, likes, follows, messaging)
    • To contact you for password resets and essential service notices
    • To keep the Platform secure and prevent abuse
    • To comply with legal obligations

    4. Sharing of Your Data

    We do not sell your personal data. Your data is shared only with the infrastructure providers required to deliver the service, acting as data processors:

    • Hosting: our servers are located within the European Union (Hetzner, Germany).
    • File storage: uploaded images are stored on Cloudflare R2.
    • Email: transactional emails (e.g. password reset) are sent via our SMTP provider.

    Data may be disclosed to competent authorities where legally required.

    5. Retention

    Your data is retained while your account is active. When you delete your account or request deletion, your data is deleted or anonymized, subject to statutory retention obligations.

    6. Your Rights

    Depending on your location, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability under KVKK and/or the GDPR. See our KVKK Notice for details and how to exercise them.

    7. Data Security

    We apply technical and organizational measures such as password hashing, encrypted connections (HTTPS), access control and session security. However, no transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
